Danger Girl : Shenhua
Last year, at the same period or so, I was stunned by Black Lagoon anime, featuring an explosive Revy, a powerful Balalaïka and one of the sexiest dangerous girl : Shenhua the Taiwanese freelance assassin who can be discovered at the end of the “first barrage” (first season).
The character is quite funny ’cause of her accent and all the insults she shares with Revy, and her fighting style is really unique with her linked kukri-twin-knives. I’m glad Max Factory released a figure of Shenhua, which has arrived few days ago to challenge “two hands”.
Nota about pictures
I have found myself short of inspiration this time, and trying to remember the situations Shenhua appears in Black Lagoon, I’ve thought some night pictures with vegetation background could be nice. Well then, there isn’t a lot of photos, since I’ve spent a lot of time looking for the best settings, and taking night pictures need a long exposure. Those are my first tries, hope you’ll enjoy.
The first picture has a voluntary strong
The Figure
Max Factory did a really great job once again. Even if there is a kind of polemic regarding her face, the rest is perfectly detailed. Yes, her face and ears may look weird, some even say she has a man’s face… well to me, she is fine. That’s true there could have been a better work on it, but well… she has very gorgeous tall legs!! and lovely chinese clothes!! So, nevermind hehe.
The pose is exactly the same than the 4th volume of Black Lagoon manga cover illustration, and I wish one day the same will happen for Balalaïka (3rd volume) and Roberta (6th and last volume) whose poses are awesome!
For more detailed pictures of Shenhua, have a look at shinohai review.
I like the duet Shenhua / Revy. I think they match well each other, even if they are allies or enemies. Obviously, the figures are now diplayed together, and are quite well harmonized despite the fact sculptors / manufacturers aren’t the same.
Indeed, Shenhua was created by Hagii Shunji, who is also responsible for Kureha, the lovely Shining Tears archer who will come next september. This just to say that I’m really trusting to this future figure, considering the quality of Shenhua one.
At last, two shots taken in the streek.

Shenhua is really an incredible figure, especially the detail on her clothing, if one day I manage to get over how she looks I might just get her. The setting you use is nice, kinda like the episode she appear for the first time, I remember there was a forest in that episode, been a while since I watch it

She’s got really sweet legs yeah? ;) Very nice photos and especially like the 4th one. I STILL haven’t watched the anime and there’s this incredible backlog waiting for me that watching them just might start to feel like a job, heheh :P

Outdoor late night photography! The 7th shot is great. While I may not like her face, their is no denying she is a great figure.
I’m holding out hope they do a Balalaika figure (there should already be one!) I loved the anime too! I’m watching it again via the N/A release :D

The first few photos are too dark for my liking =/
Tthe last two photos are great tho :3
Not a huge fan of her but I do appreciate her dress and legs XD
I’m with aka_ugly, I want my Balalaika >.<

valho : her chinese dress is wonderful that’s right, and this red/white color mixe looks great in a collection.
shinohai : ho yeah fore sure her legs are marvelous ^^;
That would be sad if you feel forced to watch the anime, but it deserves you have a peek, at least :)
aka_ugly : the first Black Lagoon DVDs have just been released in France, so I’m going to re-watch them as well ^^
Aya Kyunik : that’s right, I have a lot to learn with night pictures. The last pics were easier thanks to “street lights”.
I’m definitely waiting for a Balalaïka figure too. But I have to admit that I’m a bit pessimistic. It seems that true vilains character like the head of Hotel Moscow aren’t really apreacited in Japanese culture. I’m maybe wrong, but that’s the impression I have about this kind of character.

I’m a huge fan of Black Lagoon but none of the released figures really appealed me. Revy……….. well I like her pose but the face could be better and the body should have more proportions like we see in the series.
Shenhua was not a character that I enjoyed, although I liked her way of speak with that funny accent, her figure well……….. the pose and clothe wrinkles are very well made but the face is still weird.
I liked Balalaika but picturing her in figure…………. there are very few poses that you put Balalaika on, so it wouldn’t surprise me if she doesn’t receive a figure.
The only figure that appeals me is the cold cast Revy that costs around 13,800 yen but I’ll never buy a figure for that price.

I’m still stuck at episode 9 lol^^ So I don’t know her from the anime. What I see from the reviews I bet she’s a bomb. Can’t wait to see her in action =)
The first photo reflects your intention very well. Also, I like how the sky glances through the leaves. It widens up the background and creates depth.
I have yet to do a good outdoor shooting^^

@lu-k: I wouldn’t really say I’d feel forced to watch the anime, but it’s more like I’m @ ep2 of B.Lagoon, ep8 of EuSeven, and with all the current season, it’s gonna be one heckuva long ride before I’m done and that thought scares me. lol. For sure I’ve enjoyed the first 2 eps of B.Lagoon and I do intend to finish it in the future ;)

Night time photography is a totally different ball game. I’ve tried doing dark room photography before, but then I have a DSLR so it makes it easier for me. Once you get the hang of doing night time photography for figures, you can conjure up some awesome results.
I’m not too much of a fan of the figure itself. To me the ears are the most distracting point of her so I didn’t buy her.

Lovely outdoor shots. Nice looking neighborhood too.

nice effects, unusual but nice, but the 4 first photos are abit too dark. the last one is good ^^b

Belela-san : that Revy cold cast is awesome that’s true. But there is still something I don’t like on it, and this is her smile. Too gentle. And what I like with Revy is that when she smiles, it would made a child cry ^^
David : I think you’ll like her ;)
shinohai : yeah I understand… too much great anime to watch, and not enough time >_<
Angelo Visconti : I’d say she the hottest figure of my collection, after Eukanaria of course ;)
Adun : Doing night pictures of buildings, bridges over rivers etc… is quite easy with DSLR thanks to a lot of artificial lights, and the view is always quite large. But for figures, it’s not that simple especially when you want to zoom in : /
Danny Choo : thanks! I admit this is a quiet and lovely district .
ron~ : yeap too dark that’s true. Need to practice more and more hehe ^^;

The last couple with the street light, the colors are interesting, especially how the sky blues out a little.
July 26th, 2007 at 5:43 am
Great looking background, I love it more than the figure itself…is that bad lol?
July 26th, 2007 at 6:17 pm
super rats : yep, I don’t know how but I managed to have nice colors, when it was almost midnight.
AS : ahaha well, everyone has his own tastes ;)
