Crazy motorcycle

Who doesn’t remember the great chase on the highway to escape from Midgar in Final Fantasy VII ? I guess nobody can forget it, since this game, no, this masterpiece, is regarded as one of the most influential titles in the history of video games. FFVII, this is eternal debates about which is the cuttest between Aerith and Tifa, this is to listen to Cid‘s theme during hours, to breed thousands of chocobos, to fly all arround the world with the Highwind for no reason skiming the water… and so much more things.

And this is also great goodies, such as this cold cast resin figurine representing Cloud and the Hardy Daytona motorcyle.

Honestly, Cloud is my favorite hero. His enigmatic and supernatural background have alaways charmed me. But there is still one only thing I have to reproach to him, which is not looking after this poor Tifa.

My Review

The Hardy Daytona is impressive, with big wheels and great detailed engine. Cloud as well got his part of nice details. Like his big left shoulder-strap which may be the main part of his armor. Or like his freaky mako-injected-eyes. And of course, the biggest sword in the world, with the two materia slots. A sword that only Cloud can handle in a fight while he is biking. Haa Midgar escape, such a great moment of intense fights. Well, in fact Zack can handle this sword as well, as it’s his, but nobody cares of Zack… nobody cares of Aerith’s lover, like nobody cars of Cait Sith and Yuffie.

Without joking, the only dark point is that this resin figurine got so many small pieces that it is extremly fragile. I had to move out twice, and each time I have managed to brake something, a part of the motorcycle, or a part of the hair. And recently, the funniest happened : the left hand felt down because of the sword’s weight. Truly the biggest sword in the world!

Fortunately, a little bit of hyper-extra-super-deluxe glue, and everything is fixed. And except for the little motorcycle pieces which leave some mark, the other broken parts just needed to be re-nested.

To end with, Kotobukiya does produce awesome resin figurines. Just look at their Star Wars products. It is just too bad that their pvc figurines aren’t as great, but I guess it is a completely different way of working.

This Cloud figurine is quite old, and quite expensive, but it is worth, definitly! One day I will take some picture of Cid’s Highwind that I have too, manufactured by Kotobukiya as well. And I am still looking for the Tifa resin figurine, the second version, the one where she is bending forward.

  1. That looks pretty awesome. The detailing on the engine is something I would definitely enjoy, but such a shame that I’m not much of a FF fan.

  2. Wow, perfect statue, Im planning on purchase Yuffie and Vincent from the same collection, they are very well painted =]

    congrats
