Pia Carrot e Youkoso!
Let me introduce you (again?) a quite old figure of Takako Kinoshita from the dating sim series Pia Carrot e Youkoso! (Welcome to Pia Carrot!).
Some figure addicts must have already seen her at Sector6 Slum Junk Shop. That’s where I’ve discovered this lovely girl in a chinese dress, and first heard of Pia Carrot. Unfortunately, she’s been sold out for a while, but recently there were a little restock on HobbySEARCH, and I managed to have one. Lucky!
Pia Carrot e Youkoso! is one of those true gold mine for derivated product industry, thanks to the success of each games. And consequently, there is a lot of figures related to this universe full of lovely waitresses.
Takako is one of them. Well, I guess, since I have absolutely zero knowledge on this subject, excepted the few lines I read on Wikipedia, where I learnt that she’s from the third opus of the serie, which takes place five years after the begining, and she has the same family name than the protagonist of the very first Pia Carrot episode.
I’m really curious about the whole Pia Carrot story, and would like to learn more about it and all those characters, but there is only few +18 only OAVs, not easy to find, and the games, not really accessible… *sigh* nevermind.
Like more than half of Pia Carrot and ToHeart figures, this one is manufactured by Kotobukiya, and was first released in spring 2004. It is obvious she’s not as well sculpted as the latest pvc products from this brand, but she amazingly well painted, with terrific details all over her dress. I guess the older resin version is even better.
This Takako figure may looks small for a 1/7 scale, due to the pose, but put next to a 1/8 scale figure, the difference of size more visible. Uh-huh… it depends on the 1/8 scaled figure you chose in fact… ala ala, I still don’t understand the rules.
Let’s point the main sculpt defects : mold lines on her thighs and arms, kind of mistakes used to be seen on figures older than 2-3 years, and strange looking fingers.
But, her outfits are so gorgeous that it doesn’t matter. And even if I’m still wondering how the hell her hair can stand like that, I like it!
