You Are (Not) Alone, Rei

As long as it is a good-quality product, I will never be bored of recurrent Evangelion figures of Rei and Asuka. And, unfortunately for my resources, guys from Kotobukiya are rather competent.
So, I hope you are not allergic to the pioneer of expressionless characters, since today’s figure pictures are devoted to miss Rei Ayanami!

Those who have been with mukyaa.com since June ’07 may remember my first Rei figure. But I still missed a “true” one, that is to say with here plugsuit on. I was first looking for the 1/5 scaled ALTER’s one, which could have been great put aside Asuka, but I really don’t like this side of Rei, when she’s covered with white bandages. I know it is an important part of her character, but to me it breaks all the meaning of wearing a damn hot plugsuit! Just a matter of taste ^^;

After all, Rei can also be very seductive, and not only in ero doujinshi. Besides this is how I like her… how she looks attractrive of course! not how she is in H-mangas… mmhh… though…

So it did not take me long to decide this figure will be my “so wanted Rei in a plugsuit”. Not only because she has such great curves, but also because of her gaze and the way she stands on this very original unit-00 like base.

Her blue hair may look a bit odd, like jelly, especially her lower locks, but that is only because I am trying to find something wrong with this figure hehe. No, seriously, there are still few moulding hitches, that can be seen by looking closely at her hair, or thighs, but for a Kotobukiya’s product, this Rei is great!

The kit was originally sculpted by Tsukuru Shirahige, who also designed another great Evangelion figure which will certainly be sold out quickly when it will be released in March or April, and representing the gorgeous Misato Katsuragi! Be sure that it will be my next NERV member figure ^^

Photography notes

About those pictures, I wanted to use the minimum of light, and really like how things turned up. But they may look a bit too dark through some screen. Mine is rather bright, but I assume the result won’t be the same everywhere. Should have think about it earlier, sorry ~_~
No tripod this time, and added to this, the voluntary lack of light, I was forced to set the aperture to f/5.6 with a small exposure time, against a usual f/25 or even f/32 and long exposure. Not bad to change habits time to time hehe. But this should explain why pictures have more blurred parts than usual.     I really really love this figure body sculpture, the legs, the back, chest and… man what a nice behind (ass), comparing this Rey to the one on fly me to the moon I prefer the moon one in terms of face, it look more animeish but this one isn’t so bad.

    I need to control my buying impulses since I’m waiting for MG Unicorn at any moment, having Kotona Elegance already pre-ordered on HLJ and really hope to get her since I’ve fallen in love with another figure :) .

    hmm her face is a lil bit off, other than that this figure is perfect ^^ I didn’t order this figurine tho, I’m hoping that koto will release asuka version :D

    about the photo, I like it brighter tho ^^ the photos are quite sharp considering that you didn’t use tripod, your lens must have stabilizer in it, something like nikon VR?

    This is another figure that I have to give up on and got a cheaper Fraulein Rei instead, there’s just too much nice figures too get and too little money to get them. Yeah her face is slightly off but other than that it’s really a great sculpt, one of the better looking Rei in hot plugsuit ^^. I kinda wonder if Kotobukiya will release Asuka to go with Rei.
    The photos looks just nice on my screen, but wow hand holding it in low light, I know the A100 body have built in stabilization but didn’t know it’s that good.

    Nice pictures on the overall, very surreal and I like the emotionless expressions. Love that (tight) ass.

    I just use the reciprocal of the focal length or more to ensure that I don’t get any camera shake. How many lights were used in this shoot?

    The photos are really dark on my screen where I can barely make out the pictures. That is one thing about post-processing is that your photos make look good on your screen, but it may look totally different on another. Still, great photos.

    Sweet figure, am waiting for this figure to get into the store where I’ll decide whether to bring her home but odds are she’s mine already ^^; Since I’m missing a plug suit version of Rei as well xD

    No clue why I like Rei so much even when I still haven’t watched the anime yet. Guess I really do like my expressionless characters. Like Lucy from ToHeart2, Yuki from SHnY, Hecate from Shana, etc =P

    I still don’t have a proper Rei figure, just the Grimrock catsuit Rei and the Pinky Rei. This one is one of the more interesting ones.

    It’s a little dark on my monitor (which is calibrated), but not too bad and it adds to the mood I think.

    I like the darker side, it brings out a certain mood that you get if you know Rei. I’m not going to get this because of the hair lol, I’m particular about hair hehe ^^, but she is quite sexy ;p.

    Belela-san : both Rei have awesome curve. Well, Rei has a nice body as a general principle ^^In a way, I am glad I am not into Gundams… it represents such a budget O.o

    ron~ : Asuka in the same way would be awesome! Misato is already scheduled, but I am a bit affraid since there is also a Kaworu figure, but not from the same sculptor and the scale is different :/

    The Sony A100 has indeed a great built in stabilization. With this level of apearture I used, it worked rather well.

    AS : hair is what is the most visible and catches you eyes with Rei’s figures. And this one has some weird hair if you pay too much attention :/

    Wow, that’s an amazing looking figure. The curves are definitely what sells this Rei. She certainly seems umm… more developed than what her supposed age suggests. The lighting you have set up really shows off the details and curves (er… lines) of her figure… uh. THE figure, very well. I know Kotobukiya makes fairly decent quality figures, but this one looks like it’s really worth it! I can’t wait until mine arrives!
