Yossha! Here some big changes around. As you can see, mukyaa.com has dressed a new theme, designed by my own little fingers.
I won’t say I was bored of previous Tarski theme, since I fully exploited it, and added a lot of custom stuffs. But precisely. What I like is changing functionalities according to my likings. And since Tarski updates are released very often, applying my own modifications at each new version was really, really boring.
So, the best solution was to have my own template. I started to think about it a while ago, drawing on a good old sheet of paper what I wanted, but never found the courage to begin coding it. But finally, seeing some changes among my favorite blogs motivated me to get down to business.
So, good-bye dear Tarski, and let me introduce Gyaboo~, my Wordpress theme for Mukyaa~ (couldn’t find a better name for it haha ^^)

Gyaboo~ Theme

In fact, the layout of articles and pages has not fundamentally changed. So if you are following mukyaa.com articles through rss feeds, you may have missed the new front page design, which is actually the main new stuff, apart from the header and footer. Oh and by the way, the footer was actually inspired by what super rats chose for HappySoda. Community Cloud is a nice plugin ^^

The idea behind the new layout

I wanted to underline the main topic of the website, and focus on anime figurine photos and reviews. So visitors can now easily see what is the latest plastic kit(s) highlighted, and browse older reviews with the little slideshow widget in the header. Normally, it should slide when you move the mouse cursor above… I hope ^^;
In a second humbler part, latest news from other categories can be quicky perceived. And that’s all. This to reduce the length of the front page, which in my opinion just needs to present latest updates and let visitors to have a quick idea of the site purpose.
That’s at least the way I wanted this site to be, and I am quite satisfied with this first result, which seems operational ^^;

But a lot of adjustments are still needed, like reparing (or even completing *oups*) some dead links, re-fill the sidebar which looks a bit empty for now etc… And as always, this fellow IE is causing some trouble with the layout… *sigh*
Will fix that little by little now the core is set up. And all should be settled for next figure review, coming soon! ^^

In the meanwhile, feel free to share your impressions or report bugs (I am sure there are some, this would not be funny without).

    great work lu-k , it seems very fonctional and it is looking really really great !

    and i’m using IE :p

  2. Wow, your own theme that you created by yourself, nice ^^. I love the name for it too ;p, Nodame is awesome . The color scheme is nice, I’m wondering if your favorite color is green? The scrolling figure list on the top is sweet, I wish I had something like that xD.

  3. Well that is one of the better themes I’ve seen in a while. I especially like the slideshow widget. So nice job.

  4. Looking good. I know when I stopped using Tarski I was a little sad, that’s one amazingly supported theme. Now onto the new. That box with links to the figure reviews is wicked good.

  5. The new theme is so … pretty *drools*

  6. Wow all the blogs im visiting regulary get new themes!
    This one is the first that i like from the moment i saw it.
    I cant believe you tailored it all alone.

    Aweseome job!

  7. Fuooooh~ I really like the new layout! The sliding bar on the top is so cool! ^^ still not fond of Matrix Green though. ^^;

  8. Thanks all :)
    I would love to share this once complete, but I am afraid it is a bit “static” for now. Will try to improve its “customizability” in the future.
    In the meanwhile, I can still share the raw sources and/or discuss about some features.

    James : good to know that there does not seem to be display issues with your IE. But which version do you use? I still see some little differences between my FF3 and my IE7, and awful template issues with IE6, on the front page. T_T

    AS : actually, my fav color is more black / white / red, by referring to the t-shirts I use to wear. But for web-design, I kindda like green, indeed ^^

    radiant : well, it is far less “matrix-like” than the previous one, isn’t it? ^^

  9. Nice work, a bit faster and looks like a magazine page :D

    For bugs: a green line with “no · more” in top of comments, some difference between FF3 and IE7 (header’s links position, search bar design)

  10. A magazine page, yeah that’s a bit the idea ^^
    That’s good if it seems faster. I think “featured feed” widget in previous version slowed down everthing. And I did not managed to find where the problem came from T_T

    What do you mean by bug about the “no · more” bar? if it is about the text, that’s normal, I wanted to indicate this is the end of the article. Now it may look a bit ambiguous ^^;
    And for the position differences between FF3 and IE7… that’s what I am fighting against since the very begining =_=
    This is a classic problem of IE7 which does not interpret CSS style sheets like other browsers. Same stuff for seach bar design, IE is not able to rond edges.
    IE sure sucks since they do not respect standards.

  11. …ok, so the “no.more” text isn’t a open tag ^^;

  12. nice… time for me to change as well…

    I still do find that the comments area requires some pushing up. I take a lot of scrolling to reach to the bottom oftentimes.

    nice work with the picture scroll plugin in your header. now it’s so easy to find your posts.

  13. Looks really clean and bright. Really love the header where you can scroll down to see all the figures at a glance. Fits the figure photo theme of your site

  14. Très beau nouveu design ! Félicitations !!
