October 2007 Overview
To celebrate Halloween, Haruhi has decided to put her favorite bunny girl costume and drag that poor victim Mikuru with her to help hunting some evil spirit. For a girl only interested in supernatural phenomenons, October 31st is a good date.
Anyway, happy Halloween! ^^
Ok, that was for the purpose of writing something about this special day. Now if a kind of assessment about mukyaa.com’s activity don’t bother you, stay with me. Otherwise, I am sure you’ll find something attractive to read at dannychoo.com or some other anime blogs listed at animenano.com.
So, this month was really full of gorgeous figures for me. A bit too much perhaps, ’cause I haven’t written anything about them, but there are some I received which are still stuck in their box, awaiting for some care from me. Among those forgotten figures, I can name :
The renowned “Shuraki BOX n°1″ Akatsuki Mishoro, from GoodSmile, whose booklet and drama cd are really great.
The most wanted pirate of the world, Mugiwara no Luffy, redesigned by MegaHouse for our own pleasure.
The most provoking grade school girl, Rin Kokonoe, re-issued by Max Factory since the anime show Kodomo no Jikan is being aired.
My nendoroid collection which never stop growing, with the latest arrival of L,
Misa-Misa and Mikuru-chan.
Pictures of some of them can be expected in the following days, or weeks… or months, it depends on my planning ^^;
Because I assume November will also have its full dose of new figures. Ends of year are really harsh. But even if a lot of great stuff is scheduled till March, I managed not to order too much figurines for now. And I had to make a lot of cancellations since I’ve planned to buy a Xbox360 soon to play Idol Master, Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata (English language version for Asia area will be released soon btw).
But for now, here what latecomers may have missed this month on mukyaa.com.
Wood Guardian Kureha
Every forest is full of mysteries, secrets, and has its own legends. And there is a wood which is told to be guarded by an wonderful fairy, who got an evasive and melancholy gaze. She is also said to have gorgeous yellow orangey clothes from which a …
Tsukimiya ~uguu~ Ayu
Among Kanon main female characters, Ayu Tsukimiya is maybe the most outstanding girl thanks to her famous catch phrase うぐう (uguu). If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, then go watch Kanon and/or grab the special uguu voice cd at MoeMoeRabu …
Akihime Sumomo
Nanatsuiro Drops anime ended lately, and even if it was not very transcendent, I really enjoyed the show. Lovely graphics, good casting and a story line I kindda appreciate. It was a serie I was looking forward since I saw the eroge CGs, beautiful ma …
White Fairy Alicia Florence
Ara ara *giggle*It is something that sounds really familiar to ARIA fans, who have easily recognise the most famous undine in Aqua : the White Fairy Alicia Florence!Max Factory annonced a great figure of her about four months ago, in may, and she fin …
Hack & Slash… Stronger
Did I ever mentioned that I love WitchBlade anime adaptation? If not, then here I go : I ♥ WhichBlade!First because of Mamiko Noto voicing Masane “Masamune” Amaha, then because of the reason she is actually named “Masamune” and the way her transforma …
GITS S.A.C. S.S.S
What is that title? well, fellow addicts will easily recognise the initials for the movie Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex : Solid State Society, where Major Motoko Kusanagi excels. But I am not going to write about the show, but a figure, sin …
Now a little bit about other stuff that happened here. First, I made a little update of the About page, with now a list of the plugins installed on mukyaa.com. Since it’s a WordPress based blog, this may interest some of my fellow blogger comrades. I will soon try to write a little bit more about me as well. Since I like reading “About” pages on other blogs, I should put mine up to date first ^^;
The Tarski theme I use offers a nice “recent articles” footer, but having them with only text is a bit plain. So I tryed to make my bottom page a little bit cheerful by adding some pictures. But since I program like a guinea pig, my code isn’t portable at all… but feel free to ask me if you want some help to set up something similar.
While making a point at the end of the month, it is necessary to have few words about statistics, isn’t it? So here we go.

The significant variation of traffic between August and September was mainly due to Danny’s mini post about my Megami Magazine Deluxe article. Then I managed to keep the traffic increase by registrering to Anime Nano, a nice anime blog indexer. But now I’m more expecting a decrease, unless I find another great referrer.
Another interresting information that comes out from those stats is the ratio between visits (yellow column) and pages (cyan column). It says that on the average, visitors only view about two pages. So, since I’m pretty sure it is because I send everyone on flickr to see bigger sizes of my photos, I changed a little bit the way to display them, with a new gallery-like page. Click here for an sample, with Kureha pictures. I’ll try then to keep my fellow readers a little bit longer on mukyaa.com ^^
Even if most of the traffic is generated by dannychoo.com and animenano.com, a noticeable amont of visits came from Obsessive Plastic Lurv, Sugoi Anime, Figure and Gunpla, MoeSide and Happy Soda. Thanks!
And to end with, a little reminder about the collection overview page where I list all my past articles about figures, which has been a little bit re-written, and the feature feeds page which is still the same, where I gather my comrade blog feeds.
Last word about Haruhi and Mikuru FREEing figures
Yeah I bought them, at last, since they where re-issued. I could not have called myself a Haruhi’s fan without purchasing this figure of her. And I don’t regret it, she’s really amazing! Mikuru’s face is a bit odd, but her body… how should I explain it… she’s yummy! ^^;
But that’s all. I won’t get the other ones. Sitting poses are ok, but Yuki and Tsuruya-san are too huge with their standing pose, and anyway, they aren’t said to be re-released yet.
The picture has been retouched, to make it more bright. I wanted to give it the kind of appearance that can be seen in a lot of harem animes, when boys are dreaming about all the girls being around them, see what I mean? Since, well, having both Haruhi and Mikuru in this situation, just for you, is a kind of dream, isn’t it? ^^

Happy Halloween lu-k, even if we don’t celebrate it around here. And the Haruhi and Mikuru figures…I’ve no comments, they’re gorgeous.

I will be launching something very soon that will ensure much more traffic to featured feed members and dannychoo.com registrants ^^;

Deathy : yeah here neither, it is not a huge celebration like it seems to be in States, but we still use to bring kids in the neighbourhood to walk arround and ask for candies.
alafista : thanks! I’ll keep doing my best for that ^^;
Danny : hoho sounds great! looking forward that then. I’m always interrested in all your great features, and thoughts about web 2.0, which have a lot influence on this blog, as you can see ^^

Happy Halloween ^^. Haruhi’s essence is truly captured in that figure, very nice. Nice stats, great to see that they’re increasing.

Sweet overview, congrats on the awesome growth of your site! ^^ Looks like you’ve got a great lineup of figures up next to showcase. Looking forward to the upcoming shots! (as long as they don’t make me spend more money, your Sumomo post pretty much wiped me out -_-;)

grats on getting those 1/4 figurines, and happy halloween too :D

A bit late for a comment because Halloween is ending there in France, but it’s the thought that counts. ^_^
I wonder if this celebration has gained influence over the few past years (other than commercial reasons, naturally). Why this question? Because France likes to say they also had some Celtic influence via Brittany and Normandy.
As for myself, I am going out a bit later tonight to see what it is about. Here in Canada it is quite well-followed and I want to see the traditional side to that (missed the chance last year).
Participation? No, I won’t play a role in it at all. Simple observation I will do.
Mikuru figure? The more I look at her (Without the perverted ideas), I feel she is all right. The only thing that annoys me a bit is that she has this “poor girl’s face”. she would be truly wonderful if she showed some smile.
And yes, I follow your thoughts… In anime, males have their fantasies described with simple backgrounds, lots of light and twinkling stars and more or less light-clothed girls. Well, your picture is close to this idea. ;)

Happy Halloween :) and congrat on getting the freeing haruhi figures ^^ great pic too

Mikuru’s face in those freeing figures just totally turned me off, but the Haruhi looks pretty sweet. I might go ahead and get Haruhi if she’s still around. The soft filter gives it a classic glamour shot feel.

Gyabooo~
Sweet! Congrats on the 1/4s!!
They must look very impressive.
If you want to get that dreamy look, check out my site for tutorial!
Try duplicating the image to a new layer
Gaussian blur it
Duplicate the blurred layer
desaturate that
Select color range and pick the whites with 200 range
hide the desaturated layer and go back to the previous blurred color layer.
Invert selection
hit delete
Set layer blend mode to Screen
It should blow out all the whites to extremely white, while adding a great deal of blur.

AS, ron~ & valho : thank you guys! o(^^o)(o^^)o
shinohai : haha yes I haven’t forgotten that. Looking forward your revenge, but hope it won’t cost me too much ^^;
But hey, I’m sure you love your Sumomo figure now, don’t you?
D_Blade : I don’t claim having Celtic influences, but I know that some folks in France like to do so, especially in Bretagne and Normandie. I’m much more influenced by Spanish way of life over here in Pays Basque hehe ^^;
I guess the increase of Halloween popularity is only commercial… for what I’ve seen.
Celebrate this event in Canada seems great! Would love to be there :)
And about Mikuru, the face is ok in fact. I mean, that “poor-girl” look suits the original illustration which inspired those two figures. Check out this photo of Megami Magazine Deluxe vol.7.
super rats : Haruhi is definitely an awesome figure! FREEing did a perfect job on it.
Radiant : hey thanks a lot for the tips! I’ve already learnt from your tutorials a bit, and what I did for this picture was :
- duplicating the image layer
- gaussian blur
- changing overlay settings to luminosity
And here is the result. This other method you recommend seems much more adequate, so I’ll try it ^^
And yes, those 1/4 figures are impressive. Here for instance a little pic for size comparison.

You’re right.
Otherwise than that, I didn’t see much of the spirit of the “True Halloween”, except in some houses of the neighborhood (pumpkins and other decorations and some trick or treating), but also some adults wearing costumes and going for public places such as pubs. Disappointment indeed.
When I see the original artwork, I see the figure designers took some liberty in changing their face expressions. Otherwise, no problems, the general spirit is here!
Very nice picture of the “Three Haruhi”.
By the way and as a conclusion to my comment, I always wondered what the name of your blog means. Isn’t it the war cry Haruhi does as she jump-kicks the President of the Computer Society? XD
November 3rd, 2007 at 11:10 am
Nothing to do with Haruhi hehe. I guess You’ve never watched the anime “Nodame Cantabile” ;)
Noda Megumi, the lead character, nicknamed Nodame (the girl on my banner picture), often screams stuff like “gyabo” or “mukya”. That’s just what inspired me for the title.
November 5th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
Nodame Cantabile, the anime about piano and classical music?
I did watch the first episode, enjoyed it, but dropped it in the end for other series (Namely Seirei no Moribito, Shakugan no Shana and Kaze no Stigma… and Darker than Black and Claymore before then. Shameless plugs? Yeah! *Ahem*).
And I didn’t realize it was her in the banner. Sorry!

Haruhi is the best bunny figure I’ve seen released by Freeing, her head is almost the size of MaxFact Haruhi O_O

Damn I should start paying more attention to what you wright, I didn’t noticed that a noticeable number of visits came from people that visited my blog ^^, glad to have generated traffic :)
