Sawatari ~auu~ Makoto
As folks who read me may know, I was highly impatient to extend my Kanon figure collection with Makoto Sawatari. And well, I guess I have been punished for being such in a hurry, since due to kind of order and shipment imbroglio, I had to wait one month longer… but finally! She is mine, standing proudly next to the lovely Ayu in my collection. And even if Makoto is maybe the character I appreaciate the least, when I am staring at this lovely figure of her, I cannot help reminding myself the beautiful and moving moments of her arc. So I took her out this morning to try to have once again Makoto in a lovely landscape.
As for Ayu, I have the feeling the sculpt describes exactly the character’s spirit. With that friendly smile on her face and this cute pose, hands resting on her knees, it is easy to perceive Makoto’s playful behaviour. And I guess even if not familiar with Kanon and its heroines.
So, it easy to guess that I completely love this figure. However, I am conscious that this is mainly because I know the character and I am a Kanon fan. None Kanon fan can miss those Max Factory figure, cannot they? ^^
And about the product quality, I have only noticed a little scratch on the “inner” part of her hair. As expected from mister Max.
The funny thing is that this figure makes me appreciate a little bit more Makoto herself. Though Ayu does not need to worry, she remains and will remain my favorite, for ever.
Honestly, I had this kind of picture in mind since the first minute I saw pictures of this figure. And… I am a bit proud of what I manage to take actually ^^;
Contrary to Ayu who has got some changeable parts, Makoto comes ready-to-display: just take her out of the box, plug the base, and tadam! I like when it is that easy. No plastic sheets rolled up around her clothes/hair etc… which would strain you to make some crazy manipulations, like with Shuraki girls. Not that I donnot appreciate cast-off abilities, but sometimes it can be really painful. So “simple” figures like this one of Makoto become very pleasant.
Well… that was my « thought of the day » lines ^^;
Oups… the camera accidently fell under the reasonable limit ^^
Ahh I cannot help talking about Ayu at the same time, so at last, her the too young ladies together.
I played a little with shades, and “put” that tree trunk in the background. I cannot think about a better scene for Ayu-chan. Oh, in fact yes… but no snow this year over here, so had to leave this over.
And as a final shot, an voluntarily overexposed picture as a try to have this special atmosphere really specific to Kanon. Well, a terrible photography, but I like it, ’cause its Kanon ^^;
Now, I must say this batch only contains pictures taken with random angles of view, so if you are looking for a full detailed review, check the one at foo-bar-baz.
And for more thoughts and shots about this lovely figure, do not forget to visit HappySoda, Useless Thoughts and shino’s place with always amazing dioramas.
EDIT : aaahh what a shame. I give my sincere apologies to friend Dancing Queen, who did a while ago, when the Makoto figure was released, beautiful pictures in a lovely yellow-flower-field. How can I missed his works… I am so confused =_=

About ~uguu~ and ~auu~
I did not mention it, but for those you do not know, the ~auu~ in the title is because Makoto uses to say this catch phrase every time, so does Ayu and her ~uguu~. No need to specify I definitely prefer Ayu’s ^^
And well, I guess this is the same for most of us, since in the previous poll about Kanon characters’ catch phrases, Ayu easily won.

Tsukimiya ~uguu~ Ayu
Among Kanon main female characters, Ayu Tsukimiya is maybe the most outstanding girl thanks to her famous catch phrase うぐう (uguu). If you don’t understand what I’m talking about, then go watch Kanon and/or grab the special uguu voice cd at MoeMoeRabu …

Nice photo shooting ^^. I enjoyed Kanon very much but my favorite character was Nayuki because of her sweet voice, really hope max factory makes a figure of her.

I take it you are enjoying photographing figures outside now? Indeed a lovely figure but alas she’s sitting somewhere on my pile of loot, lol. Also having simple figures is good, having all the extra bits and pieces get quite annoying.

lovely figurine with lovely flower :D the flower background really matches her well. but I feel the sun is a little bit too strong =\
I also prefer uguu~, Makoto au~ doesn’t really stick in my head for a long time like Ayu’s uguu~ ^^

superb photos lu-k, that setting suits Makoto really well. She’s really such a cute figure, saw her instock at HS so still comtemplating whether to get her or not ^^.

It’s really cool. I’m waiting for my Makoto figure!!! It should be here any day now. I want the Ayu figure too!!! Kanon figures are hard to come by and at a good reasonable price. The Kanon figures are pretty cool and nicely detailed!!!
Love the pics you have!!!

Uwah~
nice outdoor shots :3
The “field” of flowers work well with her, so well that I’ve seen a couple do it as well XD
I don’t think I can get sick of seeing outdoor shots like these, keep up the good work!
Get the camera to accidentally fall below the limit more often XD

Outdoor photography, nice ^^. Looks like a nice day for Makoto, nothing like a nice sunny day with flowers everywhere. I still need to finish watching Kanon though then onto Clannad ^^.

Belela-san : Sure! Nayuki is such a sweet girl that you cannot be insensitive. I wish she will have her Max Factory figure too, and at least one of Mai too. Having those four girls would be great.
Adun : Haha well, you know that better than anyone else, taking pictures of figures outside is really entertaining ^^
And you see, when I had this in mind for a long time, so I could not imagine indoor photos with this one. That is why I generally go outside, when I have already the scene drawn in my head.
ron~ : Yeah you got a point. I still have some trouble with sunlight hehe. I also tried to take Ayu pictures under full sunlight, but her yellow coat… damn, it is too reflecting ^^;
Then, I guess Makoto auu~ is less outstanding than Ayu uguu~ since it comes later. And well, uguu~ is cutter! Yui Horie is awesome for cute lines ^^
valho : Oh still in stock? I thought she was sold out in no time. Well, there is still a lot of figures, still in stock too, I am very hesitant regarding purchasing them or not. I guess that is the worse. At least, when they are discontinued, no need to think about it anymore. Whereas there, you may be tempted ^^;
Rin : That is the kind of figure to preorder as soon as it is possible I guess, since they go out of stock quickly.
And yep, those are rather good and detailed figures, even if they dont wear amazing outfits nor gigantic weapons ^^
Aya Kyunik : Oh really? If you have some links to share I would be glad to visit them. I do not remind having seen other Makoto-in-flower-field” pictures, so could not credit them :|
Anyway, I am glad you still enjoy it, and will try to be more awkward ^^;
AS : Go for it if you like beautiful stories!

“Makoto, ou l’innocence dans un champ de marguerites”
Love this photoshoot, blends in very well to the character.
Well, I like Makoto… She ranks equal to Nayuki in my book, but behind Ayu (but overall I still prefer the Clannad girls).
(On a little note it is too bad there wasn’t any snow in the Southwest of France this year… I heard it snowed elsewhere in the country, especially in Paris. That’s sad)
Long time no see otherwise and glad you’re doing well. Hope to see you soon again.

Neutrinos : If those pictures can brings back those memories, then I am happy since it is what I was attempting to do ^^
rain : well, I just had to walk a bit, to the university I used to go few years ago. There are some nice greenery areas such as this one on the campus.
D_Blade : aahh Clannad. Why Kanon has to always be compared to Clannad? ^^ Guess it cant be helped.
Honestly, I love both of these animes, and dont have any favour for Clannad girls or Kanon ones.
Anyway. Long time no see indeed! Glad to have you around again ^^
And about snow, yeah that is a bit sad, but the weather is crazy this year. It was still snowing last week in the Northest of France, with big falls. Yeah last week, when we are in April. I should have been there… maybe hehe.

auu~ I love her fox-like facial expression. That curved smile is so cute. ^^
Outdoor shoots are my favourite, play of shadows make characters seem like they are alive. Great job!

April 14th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
great pix! :D
April 14th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Sweet landscape, nature definitely > man-made if you ask me =) Did you have to travel far to get to this place? I would have to drive quite a ways before I can even find some greenery in my area -_-;
Cast off is a nice feature for some, but since I never even bother to try it, it just bugs me especially if they have the protective plastic wrapping under the cast off parts. Therefore, “simple” figures that are ready out of the box are perfect for lazy bums like me xD

makoto is really a lovely figure, i did a similar shoot when i got my makoto, but mine had orange flowers and the sun wasn’t as strong. she just looks so amazing among flowers, really brings out her personality and character

Very sweet.

Beautiful shoot — wish there were such a field nearby…
Can’t wait for my Makoto :3 although Ayu is also my favourite.
April 15th, 2008 at 9:00 am
hehe, thanks for the link to mine as well. i need to go through all my lame figure shoots and link to to others as well ^_^
April 15th, 2008 at 10:40 am
Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your kind words :)
shino : travel? not at all actually. I just had to walk five minutes to reach that place ^^;
I should have taken an overall picture, since its really a little portion of greenery in the middle of the city. Will try to update this today.
Dancing Queen : hey dude! Thanks for visiting. Flower fields are the best place characters like Makoto, aren’t they?
I like what you’ve done, with this sunset light which suits much more the Kanon spirit and better reminds Makoto’s arc ^^ Great job! I am still sorry for not having seen this article sooner.
I now have added How a Girl Figures to the Featured Feeds page, so I wont miss any of your post anymore ^^;

The Makoto arc was the saddest for me…. I always find that the main character arc is never as sad to me as it should be. Fuko was the saddest in Clannad aswell… I feel that Makoto and Fuko are somewhat similar…

The background you chose was amazing :O! I love it how you put Ayu in there, too. Indeed - Auuuuuuuuu~
