Lelouch Figma
While Code Geass R2 has newly started to be airing, I am reminding the great beginnings of Lelouch thanks to the impressive Figma model.
My first figure of the serie, and certainly not the last, since those beautiful “toys” have seduced both me and the the child who still sleeps in me.
Even if Lulu does not look as well-made as on the promotional pictures, this Figma is still a figure which has surprised me, in a good way. Easy to manipulate. No trouble when changing hands or faces. I say that considering what I have already experimented with revoltech EVAs. With Kaiyodo articulated figures, changing the hands is a true pain. Though, they allow much more possibilities. I am a bit disapointed about Lelouch hands, since the gun cannot be removed and it is not possible to give him other weapons. I wish I could play a bit more in that way… too sad.
Sculpt and paint jobs ok. Nothing impressing, but nothing to reproach either. Just a little stain on the noze of the second neutral face, the one without the geass-eye, so no big deal since I prefer the two other faces.
I am sure some have recognised that base, which belong to the Kotobukiya Katsuragi Misato figure. I show her when I wrote about my first figure booth, but perhaps, she will be featured in a future article.
Love this mischievous smile.
It is pretty fun to play with a Figma actually. I was a bit worried about the fact it could be not easy to have Lulu to stand without the support arm, but in fact it is rather simple.
However, I was so lazy I took very fiew pictures. Photo sessions with Figma requires much more time and patience ^^;

Why Figma?
Till now, among articulated figures, I was only interrested in mechas, such as the whole crew of revoltech EVAs, and I swore I would never be involved with non-robot articulated figures, since the joints are too visible, makes the character odd, unreal and ugly, blah-blah-blah…
Put aside the Nendoroids. They do are articulated figures, but that does not count. Super-deformed character figures are in my opinion in another category, completely different ^^;
It is just that for faithful and “serious” representation of the characters I like, I was resolute to only choose those lovely full pvc figures we all enjoy.
But… bloody BUT! Max Factory lanched the Figma serie :cry:
Actually, the first model, the Haruhi coming only with the playstation game, convinced me even more in my idea. I do not really like that armor-like outfits based on her school uniform.
Then, I guess it was Lelouch and Yuki who were annonced. I was : « woah, they seem to be pretty well done. But no, still articulated figures. Do not touch. »
So? why am I now playing with Lelouch and, and why do I keep Yuki in her box, on my pile of treasures? If you think it is because the whole SOS brigade was annonced, well, that was a good idea, but not the main reason. However, I will try to grab them all.
The only Figma figure who had me crossing the line is Saber. She has not been released yet – expected for the end of the month, right? – but I am charmed by how she has been designed. Full armor, with both Avalon and another ornate sheath for Excalibur, that is the way I like Saber ^^
Thus, the articulated joints are not as visible as for Yuki or Haruhi. Moreover, the available faces looks awesome. And knowing that Rin will also be “figmatised“, I could not have resist anymore.
And once one was oredered, I was trapped in the chain. That Lelouch and Yuki who looked nice to me ended in my cart, followed soon by Haruhi, Kyon and Nanoha… for now. More and more to come, and I am sure I will want to purchase them.

I’m not too much of a fan when it comes to articulate figures. In my collection I do have some from the Revoltech series but personally, I get pretty bored after 5 minutes of playing around with them. The same would probably apply if I ever bought a Figma figure. In a sense I’m more of a watcher than a player, lol.
I don’t like joints :P, the way they’re exposed is a no to me lol. Though they do come out with a few nice ones that I wouldn’t mind getting.
I understand how lu-k feels, at first I was just bashing the whole idea of joints and being able to play around with it, but them I started watching the possibilities and everything and a few days I couldn’t resist anymore and ordered Nagato and I’ll probably get Nanoha when she gets released.
Good thing that Figma series has just started and I can slowly get all…with a few exceptions like Konata. T_T
I hope GSC release her as a regular product in a few months.
How’s the figma plastic quality? is it the same like revoltech? or better? I assume that the quality is different with normal PVC figurine, something more like trading figurines.
I don’t have any figurines with joint so far, figma saber will be my first one :D
Adun : I do not play much with them either. Just at the begining, as long as needed to find them a great pose for display. But, time to time I give another pose.
AS : hehe you’ll fall to one day ^^
Deathy : Nanoha looks great! I can’t wait to have both her and Fate for great scenes ^^;
About Konata, well, lets hope so.
ron~ : plastic is the same used for our “standard” pvc figures. That is great for this. Some part of Lulu clothes are as flexible as the well-known polo-system pieces, so very soft, and about hair, faces, hands… quality and consistency are the same as what we have on our 1/8 or bigger figures… but smaller ^^
Saber is a true hit. She will make a lot fall for sure hehe.
Nice shots, nearly give me envy to buy it :D
I think figma is doing a greater job than Revoltech for the “human” figures, I have their limited Brave Haruhi (bundle with PS2 game) and I’m very satisfied with the quality and the joints are not that visible for this kind of outfit.
So now I’m waiting for figma Saber ^^
Hmm… This one looks pretty cool. Joints are not so visible when the figure is clothed. Compared to my Revoltech Revy (which looks horrible with it´s bare skin and joints), this is great.
SbebiWan : Yeah I think so. And this Saber is very expected! Revoltech one pulls a long face compared to the Figma.
myu : Revoltech Revy was on of the first non-mecha of the serie, wasnt she? The new Fraulein serie looks definitely better for humanoid characters.
He seems relatively pissed off in his Geass version and cocky in his “normal” one.
I sadly feel that this Figma is a bit limited in terms of possibilities, but it may just be me…
I have both the Revoltech Fraulein Rei and the Figma Yuki and I can say with absolute certainty that I prefer the Figma. The Revoltech Fraulein was tough to play with because the limbs would fall out way too easily thus making it difficult/frustrating to pose and play with. While the amount of movement possible was more, it wasn’t worth the frustration, because if I wanted a figure that I never moved I would just get a normal figure! With the Figma it has a good enough range, the body parts never fall out and it holds the poses very well and thus is much more fun to play with. Also you can bring it with you on location for shoots without having to worry about losing the arms etc.
Code Geass!!! I like this…
I own some of the Figma figures. Sadly I don’t own one of these. Still, it’s a nice figure for people who collect Figma figures. Maybe I’ll get it when I go to Japan in the summer.
Interesting shots of Lelouch with the broken wall. I am still waiting for my first Figma, which is Saber of course ^^.
he looks awesome. i wasn’t a big fan of the figmas at first but there are a few i want now. the only one for sure i know i want so far is the Hatsune Miku figma, but i also might get the Kyon figma as well.
D_Blade : objectively, yes, this Lelouch figma is a bit limited, compared to what you can do with a revoltech. There is less articulated points, but “thanks” to this, poses you give him look more natural, I think.
Pure Trance : thanks for this interresting comparison! Figmas sure come with nice accessories, like this piece of plastic to fix unused hands, and the little bag to transport the whole stuff.
Rin : I wont say it is a must have, but if you like the Figma you already have, and if you like Code Geass and Lelouch, well, you wont be disapointed I guess ^^
valho : of course Saber, of course ^^;
Not afraid about your revoltech Saber who might become jealous? :p
Dancing Queen : the Miku figma looks nice indeed. I am looking forward what accessories she will have!
At least you look like you had fun taking the photos, I’m so bad with these posable types (as you already know) that I just changed the face and put it in the display xD I don’t even remember there was a gun in the package with the figure ^^; But hey, at least I remember there was a cell phone in the package :p
@ lu-k – You’re welcome :) Yeah, I also like the variety of accessories, as well as the nice Figma bag :)
Proud action figure collector passing by. Though I did not buy Figma Lelouch, I did buy Figma Yuki Nagato. The paint and sculpt quality did surpass the Revoltech Fraulein series to some extent, but Revoltech even the scores with Revoltech Fraulein Pocco. Considering that MF will be releasing more Figma action figures from popular series/characters (not surprisingly, Hatsune Miku), Revoltech needs a bit of catching up to do.
To switch hands, you just pull them out, right? Because that’s what you do with my other figures of this nature.
But Lelouch’s hand broke off when I tried. D’: So I’m not sure what to do now.
shino : haha how could how pay so few attention to what is in the package? xD
Hangmen : I agree, Revoltech needs more popular character. Rei and Asuka aren’t enought hehe. It seems the Pocco Fraulein is very good, but I am still not convinced… will stay with Figmas, with upcomings Nanoha, Saber, Rin, Kanu and in a farther future Miku and Fate.
emmyriceball : yep, just pull them out. Too bad to hear that yours broke :|
