Lovedol Mizuki Sakaki
How about a lovely figure to end this month of April? So today, I am going to introduce a lovely figure representing Mizuki Sakaki, « the Princess of Songs » from bishoujo harem serie Lovedol ~Lovely Idol~. Be prepared, or you risk to be struck by her charm power.

Do you remember when this figure was first annonced? I assume it was last summer in july, and she was first expected in november. Feeeew… never seen a figure being delayed so many times ^^
Anyway, she finally arrived, and add a lovely cute pink touch to my collection.
Personal Choice
When nowadays, figures tend to be designed with tumbling pose, flowing hair, staggering clothes, ero cast-off etc… there are still few kits not especially impressive I am interrested in, like this Lovedol Mizuki Sakaki. How can I explain such a choice? Let’s see.
Lovedol ~Lovely Idol~ anime serie, which I appreciate, comes at the end of a long chain. It was first created as short illustrated stories, then adapted into radio shows, drama CDs, visual novel game and finally TV anime show. That is for the little story.

New clue then: Nishimata Aoi is a great visual novel character designer and illustrator who works for Navel. And she was in charge of the character design on Lovedol, but also Final Approach and… SHUFFLE! of course! one of my favorite harem anime ^^
Actually, Madoka Hirayama is the character designer for the anime version, and signed the illustration which inspired this figure. But all is based on Nishimata Aoi original design.
I really like Nishimata works. Not as much as Noizi Ito, but I count her among my favorite illustrators. So, since I am still waiting for a decent figure of Primula (nendoroid does not count), Asa or Kaede, but don’t see anything coming on the horizon, I just could not let this adorable Mizuki go away.
Personal thoughts
Hironori Tokunaga, who sculpted this kit, properly turned into 3D Madoka’s illustration. Though, I have the feeling things could have been better, especially when you see what Hironori did on the Pachira kit.
The face looks a bit too rounded in the mouth area when you look at her front-side, but in profile she is really cute.
Few scratchs can be seen on her hair, and on red ribbons. Nothing dramatic though.
What is the most shocking is the color of the base (cf. pictures below). What an ugly yellow… I know it’s a matter of taste, but there are some limits, don’t you think? Sometimes they really should keep those simple round transparent bases they always show in promotional pictures…
Straight stand, with however this original pose, targetting her fans to strike right in their heart, and coming with that obligatory yet cute wink. Just like in the anime ending. This is also what got me.
We have there an acceptable figure of Mizuki Sakaki, but definitely not a hit. Max Factory uses to release much accomplished product. So, I only recommend this figure to folk having a fetishism for purple hair, pink dresses or ribbons, or to die hard fans of Nishimata Aoi style ^^

OMG!!! LOVE!!!
This is one of those figures you have to get. I watched the whole Lovely Idol series and loved it to death. Mizuki Sakaki is my fav character overall in the whole series. You having the figure makes me jealous!!! Well, I’m currently waiting for it right now. Shipping takes forever. It’s nice you have this figure.. Well done on the photo shoot!!!

I don’t think the base looks too bad, though that might be the color in the photos. Don’t have this, so opinion on that is based on your shots, not how it looks IRL. Funny, I made a comment about round clear bases in my Yuki review, which I posted like an hour after this one. We must have been on the same wavelength today while making our posts.

Sweet that she’s arrived for you! =) If memory serves me, Gemini Sunrise had about this color for her base as well and I do clearly recall aka_ugly being not too pleased with the color ^^;
Lots of info about how this series came to life, at least now I know more about Lovely Idol than just the anime ^^; Always was bad with the details. Heheh. Regarding the poll, it’s definitely gotta be green haired girls > purple! xD But purple comes close definitely, next purple in line for me will probably be the Lucky Star Hiiragi sisters ^^b

wow wow wow finally! i’m been wanting to get sakaki but the delays just messed up my purchasing schedule. she’s looking as great as the original image. now i’m in a dilemma as to whether I should still get her or just be able to enjoy her through the net.

Great figure, definitely a must get but I’ll pass on her due to “space problems” XD. Her hair is great, I like both green and purple, you can guess that because finally my cute green hair Kotona has arrived.
Again I don’t trust the pose because it reminds me of Saika, is she safe and completely fix to the base?

Yes, Gemini Sunrise does have the same colored base. I’m not happy with it either…
Actually, I’m tempted to spray-paint the Gemini Sunrise base, but well, whatever… ha ha.

Yeah that sounds like me, lol. I’ve actually been waiting for this figure for quite some time and seeing it pushed back every month was making me cry. Mine just arrived yesterday so perhaps she should jump the queue fromt he rest of the figures. So cute~~

Nice shot where you “fell down xD.” The wink is nice and didn’t come out looking funny. The base would look nice if it was red in my opinion xD.

super rats : actually, the base is not that bad. It is just I do not like this pale yellow, and I think they could have chosen a better color… or a round clear base like the one with your Yuki hehe ^^
shino : This is sure an odd color don’t you think? especially when it comes with an all-pink figure… it’s a matter of taste I know, but well…
I put green and purple in the poll since those are, I guess, the two unusual colors people like the most ^^
rain : since she is still in stock in most of figure webstores, I assume Sakaki isnt very popular, so you can try to wait for discount.

valho : right, a bit too light how her mouth is designed. This area is really her biggest defect.
Prim3 : indeed, the hands go a bit higher than on the illustration, and then hide the face a bit more.

I really wanted this figure, but something about the text on her shirt put me off. Too bad because she’s really cute ^o^
