Chouun Shiryuu
IKKI TOUSEN is such a lucrative licence for figurines. But there are mostly only four characters represented : Kanu, Ryofu, Ryomou and Sonsaku. Though, recently, and thanks to the anime's second season, new faces have started to burst out, like Chou'un Shiryuu.
And more over, some weeks ago, while introducing ALTER's latest Kanu Unchou figurine, I mentioned I was looking forward their second IKKI TOUSEN character turned into 3D plastic kit, which is precisely Chou'un Shiryuu. Well, it is finally her turn to be on stage now. So let me introduce you this great toushi.
Shiryuu is definitely a super A-rank toushi. She indeed wields her sword with extreme efficiency, and she is also said to be Seito Gakuen's "secret weapon".
There is no way to tell her true potential, because of her limited fights and her lack of seriousness in the anime versions (I have stopped Great Guardians at episode 2 because not enough time; maybe it has became more serious now?)
But she seems nearly invincible. Well, actually, she is! As a matter of fact, in the Ryuubi assassination attempt, she single-handedly defeated Kakouen Myosai, supposedly one of the more powerful A-ranks characters in the series, literally with her eyes closed while defending Ryuubi from henchmen. Chou'un is so far the greatest warrior… or should I say, guardian.
By the way, Chou'un presents herself with her eyes closed most of the time. Maybe because those eyes of hers are cat-like when open, very similar to those who harbour their dragons with control. Though it is not clearly pointed out whether she harbours one or not.
Another distinctive sign is that she is the only girl in Seito that does not wear the standard Seito Gakuen school girl uniform, while Kanu, Ryuubi and Chouhi wear the famous blue/white seifuku.
Some words about the figure itself. Well, a kit which is in the continuity of what has already been done for Kanu. As expected from ALTER, and it lives up to my expectations.
It is not as much impressive as her colleague, and mostly because Kanu has amazing long hair rolling around her body, and wields a legendary blade. But that’s more because of the original character design. So I am sure it will not have much success among anime figurine collectors. Besides I have not seen her much around the blogosphere.
However, this figure of Chou'un definitely honours its 2D representation, emitting how calm she is, but also how it can be dangerous to challenge her.
Another great kit from Takahashi Tuyoshi, whose Revy still get talked about!
Great Guardians
Chou'un seems to have deep respect for Kanu whose strength may rival hers. They both share the same aim : the rise of Ryuubi Gentoku. The two most powerful toushi are sure great guardians ^^
At last, and because it is a bit an obligatory pass when dealing with IKKI TOUSEN girls, some "after fighting" shots. Just notice that only skirts have been damaged to the point of being disintegrated ^^;

Sweet pics! Got this figure too since it doesn’t break my rule of one Ikkitousen character xD Haven’t seen her in anime though since I didn’t watch DD at all, but always did like her character design.
Chouun does seem a little bigger than the other Ikkitousen figures I have though, maybe I have to trade in or lose the present Kanu I have right now and get Alter’s version just to balance things out, they look sooo good together from your pics =) Or perhaps I’m finally going to break my own rule and just get Kanu anyway? ^^; Must resist… Must resist…

shino : rules are made to be broken, that’s the only rule!
And she definitely looks great with this Kanu figure ku ku ku ^^;
Blowfish : We sure need to limit our choice, now figures get more and more expensive…

I never really watch Ikkitousen but this one sure is a great figure along with Kanu Uncho (everyone seems to have this figure XD). Seeing your review makes me want to buy her right a way but for now, I put her in my wishlist ^^;; and I just love girls using swords in general ^^.

Good to see you back with the figure stuffs. While IRL I like longer hair, it seems that for Ikki I like the characters with the shorter hair.

I passed for this figurine, I hope alter will release sonsaku :(
I haven’t started watching great guardians, waaay to busy now @_@

sweet photo, she definitely need more screen time in the anime though.
I waiting for a nice Sonsaku from Alter :)

Saku : well, she does not use her sword often, be she uses it majestically. She deserves to be considered ^^
super rats : so, Ryomou or Ukitsu fan? ^^
James : a great duet which emits a strong symbol in fact, regarding their stories. That’s some great IKKI TOUSEN, not just fanservice ^^;
ron~ : It would not be a surprise if ALTER stops here, even if it is disappointing. I’d prefer a Ryofu first (green pigtails! ^^), but Sonsaku would be sure great.
valho : yeap, she needs, and I hope she will have her glorious moment… since third season is titled Great Guardians, this would be really a shame if the the Ryuubi assassination attempt part isn’t related.

Yep, most definitely both. Cries that there’s not an Ukitsu figure. Please Alter make it so!

Ahhh she’s a beaut! You made her into a goddess! I wanted to get her but I’m currently broke :( . Loved her face! So at peace and nonchalant!

Hey man! Your new design rocks (you’ve stole my magnifying glass XD)! Great photos for a gorgeous figure (as usual).

super rats : I am sure an Ukitsu figure would have a lot of success. Her dark skin is gorgeous ^^
dice : wooh thanks! :)
heika : hehe yeap, I like it a lot. Effective and discreet. Hope it does not bother you ^^;

lu-k : Of course it doesn’t. I’m proud to see this image adorning your search field ^^

Sweet new layout pretty awesome ^_^. Still waiting for mine to arrive at Jikai and also got Kan’U but she’s still in the box. I didn’t know that the skirts could be removed, are they hard to remove?

Na it is quite easy in fact. I first thought it was not possible for Kanu, but by forcing just a little bit wihtout scratching anything, there is no problem. The only thing is to pay attention to Kanu long hair, when “separating” upper-cheast from lower-cheast (separation is around her breasts, not hips like usual ^^).
For Shiryuu it is far easier.

I like the site’s new colour scheme :).
I’m not a big Ikki fan. However, this figurine does look very nice :D. She looks like she’s ready to kick ass.

Nice site, Kanu used to be my FAVE from the series but Chou’un has taken the top spot. Especially since I added this “statue” to my collection……

1/5 scale and only 200 made. A flawless casting!! Her breasts are exposable but the nipples looked horrible and dressed she looks perfect. I’m gonna get this new Chou’un figure next.
