WitchBlade
After Masane wearing he casual clothes, time has come to upgrade her with the true power of the WitchBlade!
This figure sculpted by Satoshi Ishiyama and manufactured by Orchid Seed is finally what is was looking for about this nice anime adaptation of the WitchBlade. That is to say a figure that shows all the vastness of her sharp hair, shows her power to create huge blades and also her bloodthirsty yellow eyes. I’m also glad that she was modelized according to the DVD version design, and not the censured TV version, which cover much more skin with the “armor”. It may sounds perverse, but I think this suits better the WitchBlade to have a lot of nudidy, like the first one from Michael Turner’s comics.
Below, you can see how this figure comes out of her box. There are two blades, a little one in case you don’t have enough space.
I admit I had some troubles setting her hair with my big fingers… and at last, I felt very happy once done with that.
What I love about this character is her eyes (yeah… her eyes, in both meaning of the term), with this evil look full of craving for fight and blood.
That’s also funny Yusuke calls Masane “Masamune”, because of her big breast (“mune” means breast, for those who don’t already know that). This is completely off-topic, but it’s also the name of Sephiroth’s sword, and I don’t if there is a link, but I can imagine one, just because of this huge blade.
There are few flaws, obviously. Mainly about the sculpt, but only visible if you do pay attention to it. If I had to rate this figure like it is usualy done on Heisei Democracy, I would also give her a 8/10.
Above, the only “complete figure” picture. That wasn’t easy to shoot her entirely. And below, a little size comparison with Alter’s Masane.
On the first’s box, you can read 1/6 scale. On the second’s, 1/8 scale. Look for the mistake… I still can’t understand how scale is defined. I guess that because of her huge blade Orchid Seed’s figure is said to be 1/6, but that’s stupid since without it, she looks much more to a 1/8 scale figure. In term of centimeters, from top to toe, she is about 21cm (without considering her raised arms), against 20cm for “casual” Masamune. And she reachs almost 40cm with the blade. Anyway…
Actually this doesn’t bother me. Before I received her, I was affraid the figure were too tall. I’m not really into big 1/6 scale figures in fact. And now I’m pretty happy of her real height which go together well with the flexible-chest Masane.
Now I’m waiting for the Alter’s power-up version of the WitchBlade ;)

Nice pics…. great figure of Amaha. Still waiting on my Maria and Amaha by Kotobukiya (domestic release). Taking so long… LOL
Will look forward to pick this one by Orchid Seed up as well…I think next month stores here will have her instock. Looks great!
very nice addition to your collection lu-k, she looks great. i’ll be receiving my another witchblade tomorrow, kotobukiya installing version hehe so i’ll be posting some photos of witchblade soon as well.
Love the last shot with both masamune next to each other.
I hope the paint is not wearing off her eyes from you squeezing them to much ^^;
I like how the blades sorround her. I stopped watching the anime tough, because I didn’t like how the adaption of the original comic turned out.
Nevertheless, nice photos. The purple backdrop fits perfectly.
nice figurine.. but her eyes are too big for me :p
the pictures with black background are nicer compared to the others
Oh extremely and exaggerated breasts but the shots are great ^^
Thanks guys!
valho : looking forward to it ;)
Danny : haha don’t worry, she is resistant ;)
phamolous : I understand what you mean. I love the original work of M. Turner too, and this anime adaptation, which is completely different, can be a real deception for true fans. That’s why I prefer to not compare both of them, then I can appreciate the new WitchBlade, so as she’s voiced by Mamiko “Mami-Mami’ Noto. I can’t resist her characters :)
ron~ & Belela-san : “big eyes”… that’s the TRUE power of this WitchBlade xD
Wow, I love the design. Especially the wrapping of the clothes near the buttocks ^-^, great shot.
That is hot!
Nice photos!
I like the eyes, and the buttocks are just…@_@;
The shadowy elements in the photos also fit in quite well in my opinion :3
Nice pics lu-k! Orchid Seed is crafty with there so called 1/6 scale eh? :P Can I ask how you get that dark of a background on the last pic?
To get this kind of dark background, I just tried to have the figurines very far from the black paper, and only light the front of the scene.
I’ll maybe try to make some explainations, kindda tutorial about that.
Hell of a nice photo session Lu-k. I just love all the figures under the witchblade brand. Just waiting for mine from Kotobyuka. BTW, you’re now in my list too ;)
Thanks lu-k, i’ll try that. And I always welcome tutorials – i need all the help i can get!
Oh, and I hope you don’t mind, I added you to my blog list too. :D
Thanks guys, you’re also in my blog list :)
