Misa Amane

While I’m waiting for the nendoroid Light & Ryuk figures, I can admire the delightful Misa Amane through this figure made by Jun Planning. She the character I love the most in the Death Note anime, maybe because she’s the one who brings some humor, heat and colors in this dark and cold serie. Or it’s just secondary effects of Aya Hirano‘s contamination haha.

Misa Amane

To be honest, my fellings about this figure are very, very balanced. There’s no doubt about the quality of her clothes and their details. That’s just incredible. Moreover this is Misa, after all, with her lovely blond pigtails, sexy gothic outfits and an interresting pose. That why I like her.
But I was expecting a better work for the sculpt and painting part, which is not really good. Too big sacle, I guess…
Or maybe I’ve been used to too many well made figures by Max Factory / GSC / Alter … So once again, I’ve become more prudent regarding “less famous” manufacturers. It’s a great pity.

I’ve also read a lot of opposite opinions about her face. To me it’s ok. Just not as accurate as I hoped, mainly due to sculpt/paint defects (you can see that some red paint is missing in the middle of her upper lip, for sample), but she easily reminds me the selfish and capricious Misa-Misa I like from the anime.

Here is the base which comes with this figure. When I opened the box and saw that, I first laughed. Honestly. But well, that’s kindda great idea for sitting poses hehe.

Extra cast-off feature! This is just sad that the figure isn’t as well made as I expected. She could have been a real top figure. Here some shots without her skirt anyway. Some angles of view are missing since there are too much stain of paint on her knicker… skin color… yeah, can’t understand why but they do are here. That really sucks.

To end with, some words about the Death Note which is a bit curved to give the impression that it has been used many times, and which is very flexible. A nice and essential accesso… hey!! what’re you looking at?

So, should I recommand this figure? Well, if you’re a true Misa-fan, or if you don’t know anything about this character but love this kind of clothes, go for it! She is still a great looking piece, as long as you’re not too close to stare at her ^^;

  1. OOooh, nice~
    I’m starting to be a bit like that, when you start to expect GSC type quality in nearly everything ^^; Her face is a lil different I guess but I kinda like it. I’m a fan of her clothing, makes me want to buy her as well… :3

  2. Oh yeah, her clothes are omega hawt ^^;
    But also being a big fan of Death Note and Misa-Misa as well, I can’t help but want a better quality version of her. The face and hands bug me.

    Or maybe it’s as you say and we expect too much from our figures after being spoiled by the big name companies. hmmm
    Either way, she’s still pretty cute :p

  3. woah, misa is so sweet, so pretty. I think this figurine is the best misa figurine even tho her face is abit off

  4. she’s really a nice figure, and the clothing does looks good. The only part I don’t really like is the face which could have been better. I am hoping some of the big name companies will makes some death note figures

  5. I guess there’s the advantage of not watching lotsa stuff ^^ Her face seems alright to me, heh.

    Really beautiful clothing and interesting base (heh). The bag on the base looks lovely ^^

  6. Clothing is nice but her face is a bit off.
    I like the “other figures” widget you have at the bottom of your post ;-)

  7. Aya Kyunik : her fishnet stockings are really awesome with some lovely patterns, as the ones she wears on her arms – don’t know how it’s called T_T – and that’s why I purchased this figure. And on that point I’m absolutely NOT disappointed :)

    aka_ugly : ho yes, spoiled, that’s the right word :D

    ron~ : there are not a lot of Misa figures for now. The nendoroid one has also an odd face, and IMO the best one is the articulated (and expensive) RAH figure from MegaHouse.

    valho : I hope so! I’m already looking forward the GSC nendoroids, but some realistic figures would be great from this company, or her friend Max ^^

    shinohai : yeah that’s a good way to enjoy some figures ;)
    My dad loves this one, whereas he doesn’t pay attention to other figures like Haruhi, Revy etc… So I guess it’s a perfect figure for those who’s never seen Death Note hehe.
    The bag is indeed a nice accessory. Forgot to mention it :p

    Danny Choo : thanks! glad you like it :)
    Since mukyaa.com is starting to have a lot of figure photo galleries, visitors may have miss the oldest ones, so I’ve put those randomly displayed links which appear on figure pages. An other way to keep web surfers a bit longer on your site, I guess ^^

  8. I saw her in a shop during a recent holiday and was pleasantly surprised by how nicely done her clothes were – even the inaccurate face didn’t bother me. Then I saw her hands x_x They really looked bizarre XD I really wish this sculpt had been entrusted to a more consistent manufacturer, but for the 1/6 scale and great job on the clothes it’s still a very decent figure.

  9. The face and note both look off. I can’t really explain why, but the face looks so weird. Overall, she looks okay, but I’m not a Misa fan at all so…

  10. I must say it’s quite an effort for Jun Planning to have done so well on the gothic clothing as something like that on any figure would be quite difficult to sculpt and paint. But still, the face looks a little weird to me.

  11. Very sexy figure. I think she looks fine, safe for lips and hands.

    I’m more impressed by your photos though^^ Black backgrounds always seem to get me.

    And your site is coming along quite well. I just spotted the tag cloud and that widget Danny was talking about is a nice feature as well =)

  12. Very sexy figure and nicely taken shots. Somehow her face seems wierd from some angles.

  13. byaku-chan : Her hands are indeed a bit odd. Sculpt defects :/
    A classic issue with “big” figures… that’s sad.

    Zeroblade : hehe don’t know if beeing a Misa fan helps or not in order to apreciate this figure ^^

    Adun : mmhh I realised I didn’t mention it, but her fishnet stockings are “real”. This is not painted nor sculpted. But yes that’s still an awesome job.

    David : Thanks :)
    Fell free to ask me anything about the website if you want to add features with the same behaviour on yours. I’d be glad to help… as far as I can ^^;

    alafista : yeap I realised that when I put pictures on the computer. Some angles make the figure looks odd… or it’s just that she’s odd in fact :/

  14. Simply speaking, her hands needs to be totally redone. This figure gives strong signification to that HLJ advert: “…figures such as this are mass produced … If you absolutely must have perfection, prepare to do some touch-up work on your own.” I was considering to purchase her, but no more… Max Factory and Alter really used us with too high stands.

  15. Fellow Misa Misa fan here, I agree with Kamugin about redoing her hands. In my opinion her hands are in Jerry Seinfield’s “She has man hands” lol. Especially true in the third to last picture you took…its a bit big and mannish to me. Like others I say the face is a bit off, but other than that the figure and pics are nice.

  16. Thanks for the offer, lu-k. I’ll be sure to get back to it =)

  17. This must have been a very early version because the retail version I’ve seen has stockings and gloves like this one;

    Little better looking material I feel. Awesome figure though, no idea she was part-cast off though… WHY DO THEY ALL HAVE TO BE LIKE THIS?? Even my dear little Sumomo Akihime…. :sob:
