Hardly disappointed for having missed Shuraki Box-03 preorders on HobbySEARCH yesterday morning (yeah, it was about 11:30 am here when reservations closed) because of work, I found some comfort once back home, nevertheless. Indeed, a lovely big box was waiting for me, with inside the Max Factory figure of Mai Shiranui, the buxom female fighter from Capcom vs. SNK 2.
The first words that cames to my mind when I put the figure out of the box were : “huge!” and “heavy!”. I haven’t weighed it, but she is sure not far from the kilogramme, and about 30 cm (11.8 in) tall. I was very surprised, since I wasn’t expected such a huge figure, but in a good way. I just haven’t freed enought space to display her… so Mai will wait a bit more in her box.
Details are not the main quality of this figure in my opinion, since Mai’s clothes are simple and show a lot of skin hehe. But the paintjob is almost perfect, and makes this figure very good looking. I just wished her outfits would have been more red, but I was already aware about that quite dazzling orange color.
The only real defect I have register is a slight moulding mark which forms a line on her left thigh. The kind of classical sculpt mark.
Ho and maybe the base too. Haven’t taken any picture of it, but this is just an oval white piece of plastic, with four little stands to fix the figure on it. Two holes under the right feet, and two holes under the “tail” of her “shinobi outfits” (does this have a special name?).
Mai can stand on her own quite well as you can see, but the right feet isn’t aligned. Haven’t tried it yet, but I guess it will need some twisting to attach the whole figure well to the base. And a priori, I can’t assert Mai’s figure risks to lean, but since she very heavy… be careful.
The original illusration by Kinu Nishimura has been turned into this gorgeous sculpture by Takeshi Hamasaki, who also created those incredible Street Fighter models of Chun-Li, Sakura and Cammy for Max Factory. I hope there will be more King of Fighters charcters from him and MaxFact’.
About the title
An eye for an eye, and a tooth for … another eye! Ok sorry orz
But this one was easy, and couldn’t find an other title. In fact, I had a better pun with our common otaku use of the word “eye”, but only with a French expression : “entre quatre yeux”. Literally, this means “between four eyes”, but obviously it is an expression very familiar used generally to expression the need/fact of setting things square between just two people, face to face. And so… well… you know…Mai… four eyes… uh-huh nevermind -_-;
Product Information
- Manufactured by Max Factory
- 1/6 scale completed pvc figure
- First released in August 2007 in Japan
- List Price of 7,500 JPY
Size parallel
So, this beauty is said to be 1/6 scale. Luckily, I can compare her to another gorgeous girl who has her own 1/6 scale figure made by Max Factory too : Chitose Nanbu from Amaenaide Yo!. Let’s have a look at this.
Mmmmhh… something’s wrong. I’ll never admit Chitose-chan’s are smaller. NEVER! Definitely! I do not understand how scales are defined and/or based on… *sigh*
To have an other idea about how Mai is “huge”, here Carmen (Gun X Sword), still from Max Factory (1/8 scale this time), who is used to be nicknamed “99″ because of “I-am-sure-you-know-what”, but… here I guess she has lost all her self-confidence ^^;
Even my cold-cast Hakufu is still smaller… so, Mai is now my biggest pvc anime character figure, in every meaning of the term hehe.

What the..? I just posted a comment on the last post and there you go with a new one^^
I’d like to see her in person. 30cm is surely a big number. My tallest figure is Kaiyodo’s Cammy, which measures 26cm. But to be honest, for me it’s hard to find a Mai version which really suits my tastes. My biggest problem with this one is her somewhat childish face.
Other than that I think overall sculpt looks good. It’s your typical Mai that you know from the game. Btw, she was one of the weaker characters in CvS2, yet fun to play with and I certainly don’t mean her bouncing boobs =P
I like how you chose a softer background to fit her outfit color.

Holy mama! Those missiles!

Woah, nice cleavage shot lol. Always nice to be on top when you see something like that ;p. Mai is big lol, in more ways than one…I think shes around the height of my bikini wearing Blanc, maybe about an inch or two bigger height wise…other measurements, well, Mai beats her in that “eyes” down lol.

wow she’s really really huge, I guess she’s really a big girl in more than 1 way. She looks really good but had to give her a miss, I wouldn’t know where to put her anyway. Btw I camped for Shuraki 03 and luckily manage to get her. Hlj haven’t list her yet so you might wanna try that lu-k

Big is always good :P Though weird to see how she is your largest figure coz Hakufu looked pretty big, goes to show what much better mature women are.

Mai is on of the few figures that I like in terms of body proportions but not the breasts that look like two huge balloons.
The rest in her is just great, the legs, belly, waist, even the face is great. Doesn’t she come with a base? Cause due to her weight she might lean :P

i’m not a figurine collector but this figure really catches my attention. Really want to have one for myself but it’s kinda impossible for me to display it in my room… T.T
Really admire you all who have bought this.

nice photos lu-k
hmmm only one thing: you got some bad dust spots on your photos, maybe you should clean your lens and sensor ;)

Lovely photos of a lovely figure. Everyday at work is a struggle within myself as I desperately try to resist bringing this Mai home -_-” But she’s definitely a displaying nightmare (for Detolf owners at least) and thats a small but strong factor for me since I don’t like leaving figures in their boxes. But still, until someone else buys her, there’s gonna be such struggle :/ And your shots are telling me to just give in X_X

I can’t believe I missed preorders for this T_T
I’ll have to enjoy her vicariously through your pictures. Although your beautiful pics are making that even worse ^^;
I hope I can grab her somehow later on. But like shinohai said, her size doesn’t bold fell for detolfers. Who cares though, right? She is just a work of art :D~

An eye for an eye indeed - Not without massive nosebleedings ^^;
September 2, 2007 at 3:10 am
She is from the King of Fighters series originally, not just CvS2. (: In any case, nice photographs, and jeez she really is humongous lol.

David : haha that’s not common. I rarely am so fast for posting new articles ^^
I assume that her face is kindda childish. But that’s a typical type of character : young girls with extrem assets hehe.
I remember indeed that she wasn’t a powerful character, but one of the most enjoyable to play (to me at least).
Danny Choo : LOL missiles, straight ^^
AS : thanks ^^
Mai is sure an interresting figure to take pictures of ;)
valho : yeah I understand… I don’t know where to display her too -_-;
But I wanted to have this figure since I saw her first promotionnal pictures :D
Maybe I’ll try to have the WHF limited blue version as well.
About Shuraki, thank you about mentionning HLJ. I’ll try to order Char there, but unlike HS where you know when to look after, HLJ’s updates are … let’s say… random ^^
And I hate camping hehe.
[edit] missed… again, even on HLJ. Damn I hate that… why did they updated their product list on sunday night!? ;_;
Mai do is big!
And that’s a bit like what David said, childish face + huge balloons can be slightly weird together. Even if Hakufu isn’t much mature (she’s very young too), I guess we are better used to her big eyes than Mai’s… whose figure is a bit bigger, as you can see ^^
Belela-san : there is a base, obviously hehe ^^
I didn’t used it for those shots since I was able to make Mai stand on her own. But yeah, because of her weight, the base is definitely requiered.
depressant : not always easy to deal with such teasing figures, I understand.
neko : I know x_x
I just realised it when I put pictures on the computer… too bad hehe.
shinohai : you definitely have a very hard job hahaha ^^
For what I’ve heard about deltof cases, this figure must become a problem indeed because of her weight.
aka_ugly : I you still want her, there will be another batch in november. Don’t know if orders are still opened on HLJ, but maybe on shops like play-asia or elsewhere you can pre-order her.
And thanks for the kind words :)
Windbell : yeap, tissues needed ^^;
ness : Indeed! I’ve barely specified somewhere in my post that she’s from King of Fighters. I first talked about CvS2 ’cause that’s what’s only written on her box hehe.
“humongous”… yeah that the perfect word to describe Mai assets ^^
September 3, 2007 at 5:29 am
She’s huge, both her eyes and legs. Appeals to me though ^^
My tallest figure is Clayz 1/6 Saber. Mai might be a little more bigger than Saber, at least Her eyes are. lol
This figurene just asks fanservice shots. Nice job! ;D

Hi, I just stumbled upon your site. I can’t believe I missed this when looking for good anime figurine reviews. Your photos are really good especially with the lighting.
Anyway, I just got this figurine the other day and what can I say? It’s really awesome and is now my favorite in my small collection. Even my wife commented that it looked impressive, though it still isn’t something I’d keep on display when relatives and in-laws come to visit. Finally, as a diehard fighting game fan of SNK,Capcom and Namco….this really fits well in my gaming room.
Keep up the good work!
September 4, 2007 at 11:02 pm
After seeing these, I’m in the mood for watermelon.
September 5, 2007 at 11:36 am
myu : Mai is taller and bigger than the Clayz’s Saber (have this figure too), and not only the eyes hehe ^^;
And yes, some angles of view are compulsory with this figure hehe.
Fabian Cortez : thank you!
This is sure one of those figure not easy to display anywhere. But in a specific private room, especially with fighting video games, she would fit perfectly ^^
super rats : HAHA watermelon… yeah, why not : big, cool, tasty… *yummy*
September 8, 2007 at 4:14 pm
o_o
Hmm, kinda makes me wish I should of gotten the blue version from Wonderfest. The photos are seductive XD
…Now I want to grab onto something round and soft ;_;
September 15, 2007 at 8:31 pm
I wanted to get this since I really like Mai, but I lack the moneys and I’m not much of a KoF fan to justify the purchase…
September 20, 2007 at 3:24 am
*faints from nosebleed* What scale is her? 1/6?
September 20, 2007 at 8:56 pm
Aya Kyunik : the blue one looks great too, but I guess it’s kindda very hard to grab ;_;
And I understand your wish of squeezing something round & soft ^^;
wildarmsheero : yeah a bit expensive, mainly due to the size :/
alafista : yeap she’s said to be 1/6, about 30cm tall.
