Cute Little Undines

When I seriously started my figure collection, I decided to put some limits. The first main one was “only one figure per character”. Well, this rule has been broken very quickly in fact. Asuka and Hakufu‘s fault. Then, there was the “only characters I know” limit, which is impossible not to pass… ero games fault. And the last rule remaining was “no trading figures”. I managed to respect this limit during a long time… but recently I failed. ARIA‘s fault. Damn, now I have no more limits… such a conspiracy!

ARIA trading figures

I am not really into trading figures. I mean, those who respects character proportions and designs, like iDOLM@STER’s ones, even if they are beautiful. Have a look at Moe Idolatry. I prefer bigger 1/8 scale figures for that.
But when it concerns alternative cute “chibi” versions, like this ARIA figure set, that is another story. Nendoroid size would have been better in my opinion, but I doubt Neo-Venezia Undines will have this treatment.
So in fact this is the first and (maybe) the last time I purchase trading figures… for now, I guess. What a conviction hehe.

I thought there would not be special / secret pieces, but this Aika with short hair proves that I was wrong. But I still wonder whether there are others, and how do they look like.

ARIA trading figures

I have not really much to say about the quality, since I am not used to this kind of goods. There are some visible defects, but I guess it can’t be helped regarding their unit price and how it is produced. But afterall, they are cute, it is ARIA, and I have the six Undines. So I am happy ^^

Discussion

  1. I use to have my own rules to figure collecting, but now are long gone… I had your first two rules as well, though I actually did bought a few set of trading figures (Naruto) but I don’t buy them anymore, because it seems there’s no end to them =_=;

    Those Aria figures look really good, not like those 1/6, but still, I rather buy this ones than those giants that could take more space in my room XD

  2. Uwah~ Cute!

    LOL, I noticed you also have those “rules”, I broke a few here and there as well.. OTL

    I used to go nuts on trading figures before I got into the bigger figures, so I try reaaaal hard not to randomly buy them here and there, but somehow I always manage to get SOME, such as the iM@S ones you mentioned…and the incoming Mecha Musume #3 re-paint… orz

    Lovely ARIA figurines tho, they’re so cute lol. They look great in quality as well, as some companies tend to be notorious for producing some pretty warped trad figs…

  3. so cute.. especially the first picture, nice background too :o

    are you going to buy nendoroid petite trading figurines? hehe

  4. Gilgamesh : Yeah… there is already no end with “normal sized” pvc figures, but it is worse with trading ^^
    And as you mentioned it, since I didn’t bought those Beat 1/6 figures because of their height too, little trading are the only nice figures related to ARIA… awaiting for Max Factory Alicia :D

    Aya Kyunik : I also HAD those rule yeah… that’s past, now they are all deprecated ^^;
    And that’s right, quality in the world of pvc is greatly increasing (did you see the latest new versions of One Piece P.O.P figures by MegaHouse? compared to first batches, this is amazing), so does for trading (especially those from ALTER).

    ron~ : mmh… now the rule is broken… you know… ^^;
    And it’s SHnY goods, and the Tsuruya-san playing zombie is awesome so… I think I’ll break it another time hehe.

  5. I have these as well. You know how it is with me, if it’s ARIA, gotta buy it. They’re very cute, despite the minor defects, but you can’t expect much since these are trading figures.

  6. Wahhh, 2 cats from each company lol. They look nice for trading figures. I might order Max Factory’s Alicia, I got to decide soon before they go out of stock again ^^. I was thinking about getting the ARIA Company with accompanying Alica, Akari, and Aria Taijou too.

  7. I started out with almost the same rules, character that I know off or from anime that I have seen, but that’s been long broken XD. There’s still 1 rule I kinda follow, is to limit the variation I get for a single character, but I don’t think I am doing well keeping that rule considering I have a few saber figures XD.
    Anyway this Aria trading figures looks real cute but I stay away from trading figures though and it’s still a rule I haven’t broken yet except for two MGS trading figures I bought a long time ago.

  8. Nice trading figures ^^ No more rules for me anymore, since they just tend to show how strong my incredible willpower of tofu is T_T I do generally try to stay away from the smaller sized figures, but they sure are darned useful for filling in the gaps between the larger figures though ^_^; Weeeee! Excuses for self-gratification! :p

  9. Very cute trading figures. Love the pictures. I used to have those rules too and I’m actually still following “only one figure per character” but I fear I will not be following it for long. The only trading figures I collect are the CLAMP in 3-D Land ones.. and they keep coming out too. orz But these Aria figures are adorable so it’s easy to see why you broke your rule lol.

  10. I think the last time I bought trading figurines was about a year back. Can’t even remember the name of the series.

    But this series of Aria mini figurines is really kawaii ~ especially with their accompanying cats. I’m so tempted to own them.

  11. I Love ARIA cool cute figures there

  12. I ONLY collect trading figures. I think they look better on my limited horizontal space than a smaller number of ‘standard’ size figures.

    I can’t vote in your poll, however, as I wait until a complete set goes up for sale somewhere and buy it then. I may have to wait a while, but it’s certainly a lot cheaper and I don’t end up with multiple copies of the same figure.

  13. Adun : as expected from you hehe. I was sure I’d got them. Oh and I managed to put an order on the Poster Book 3 *happy*

    AS : when you say “getting the ARIA Company“, you mean the whole building that was released by Organic? If it is that so, I also was thinking of getting it, but I managed to resist that time hehe.

    valho : your all Saber figures are sure the only exception in your collection, as far as I remember ^^
    And I assume your latest Ereka Seven gashapons are an accident due to the DVD boxes? :p

    shinohai : rules are meant to be broken anyway, I guess. Whatever how strong your willpower is ^^

    Nyx : this serie of CLAMP in 3-D Land is endless indeed. I’m glad I didn’t start collecting them haha. To keep only one figure per character is the hardest I think.

    alafista : all those cats give more cuteness to the Undines ^^
    Love Maa-kun and ARIA-shachou hehe.

    KDBA : oh I forgot about this way to gather trading figures. Sorry ^^;
    Though I know some shops that sell full complet sets… but then, you loose the mean of “trading figure” hehe.

  14. Lol I find the figures face a bit weird ^^ but they’re cute.

  15. Rules are meant to be broken.

  16. @lu-k~haha yes the Eureka Seven gasaphon are an accident, they were selling at half price and I need something to go with the dvd XD and as super rats said, rules are meant to be broken occasionally XD

  17. I think most of us have tossed the figure rulebook out the window ^^;
    Resistance is futile when in comes to cute figures it seems. A few months ago, I would have never seen myself buying Moetan trading figures -_-

    Great pictures and a really nice setting used. The group shot is really cute.

  18. really great pictures ^_^
