GITS S.A.C. S.S.S
What is that title? well, fellow addicts will easily recognise the initials for the movie Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex : Solid State Society, where Major Motoko Kusanagi excels. But I am not going to write about the show, but a figure, since it is the main subject theme of mukyaa.com.
So, here a recent figure of Kusanagi, from GoodSmile company, according to her design and outfits in Solid Sate Society.
I remember opinions about this kit were very discussed, but only about the sculpt of the face. Indeed, some think she is really good, and some other competely hate her. Personally, I am not concerned at all about the face, which is very well done if you put aside the resemblance. This is a GSC product after all.
And what I like the most with this figure is her incredible sexy pose and body. And I am glad to see her once again in such an attractive suit, which was a bit lost compared to first GITS.
Glasses aren’t removable, and there is no cast-off feature… a bit sad since I would have appreaciate to take her coat off hehe. But she can stand on her own. A good thing since the base looks a bit cheap with its green transparent plastic… And despite the fact she looks like she is leaning forward, I don’t think their is a risk. (another optic illusion due to the pose if you ask me)
In conclusion, a really good figure if you only consider the paint and sculpt job. But I assume it won’t please every fans because of the design. I like this figure a lot, maybe more than ALTER’s Motoko figure, and when I look at here, I also see Balsa from Serei no Moribito through her face… can’t be helped haha.

hmmm hard to say which I prefer, face sculpt wise I think Alter’s is more accurate but clothing wise I prefer GSC one. Both looks good in their own way. Saw her at my local shop but I didn’t buy her due to spending too much lately haha XD. I’ll just probably put her in my might get list and get her if I have the change and the budget
Can’t say I have any preference since I haven’t watched this anime -_-” But at least thanks to that I don’t really think the GSC figure has anything wrong with the face sculpt ^^ Though she does resemble Balsa, heheh.
Trench coat types are always cool. Nice detail on it too, with the pockets on sleeves and the buttons. Sweet figure you’ve got there ^^b
I prefer Alter’s version… much prettier.
Hmmm~
I do like what you said about her suit, I like it.
I’m not so worried about the face, so I guess I’ll take this ver.
I should get around to finish watching GITSAC…
Difficult to choose between the two Motokos, each one has its good points. The Alter Motoko has the best face while the GSC one has the best body proportions sculpt, the Alter has a “infiltration” or special forces type suit while GSC has a stand alone Snake (MGS) Echi like suit.
Final Verdict………….. get both figures and stop hitting with your head on the shop (or house) wall to decide which one to take home ^_^
I like both but voted Alter’s cause I got that… Intead of compairing them I think both look great in their own, I actually find them to be so different that I might get that GSC version one of this days — more like next year when I save some money T_T
Great pics too!
I would love to own both figures, but if I had the choice between the two I’d pick the Alter version. I dont mind any outfits she wears, because they always translate to badass, and I guess thats Kusanagi’s type of sexy ^^; With that aside, both figures look great. The pictures are also look fantastic!
I didn’t like the GSC much when I first saw her, but she is growing on me. Her coat is really awesome. And now that I know her face is designed after the movie, her face isn’t so bad ^^;
Like my colleagues said, you really can’t go wrong with either version.
valho : sure, there have been a lot of anime stuff to buy those last weeks… and even more to come. This will never end…
shinohai : dude… what a lack of education… how could you missed this master piece?
just kidding ^^
The resemblance with Balsa is very strong, since both Solid State Society and Serei no Moribito graphics are signed Yusuke Takeda and Takayuki Goto. And that is the reason I started watching Balsa-nee adventures ;)
Aya Kyunik : hehe sexy indeed? ^^
Belela-san : haha yeah that’s right, buy first, then think ;)
Gilgamesh : hard to avoid the comparison, but I also think it is better to have both of them… that’s why I have them ^^;
Kintaro : what is good with ALTER S.A.C version is that we see through it the great military Kusanagi is. But I think she has lost some feminity… which is back with S.S.S design and costumes.
aka_ugly : the coat is definitely a perfect accessory.
