Notepad #2

Not much activity of late. Have been busy with several things – mostly because of job and some other tasks ^^;;;
Now I need to catch up with some figma stuff that suddently arrived lately. But in the meanwhile, here are some blahblah about what I have been up to these last weeks.
Certainly the biggest thing. I got myself a new weapon, to flesh out my photo armory – the handy yet great Lumix GF1 from Panasonic. The fact is that I have always wanted a small easy-to-carry camera to have it with me every where and every time, and to be able to snap anything I could find interesting around me in my daily life. I lost the count of how many times I was frustrated to not be able to immortalize unique moments.
And somehow the faithful Sony Alpha 100 and Canon EOS500D were not really handy to be kept at one’s fingertips. I am ok with these cameras when I carry them on purpose, for planned photoshoots, but I really don’t feel comfortable when having one with me all the time. And it is even more true when I go on a trip and I don’t want to be bothered by some bulky gear. And since I am actually planning to go ‘somewhere’ this summer, it motivated me to get used to new equipment.

Mmmhh sexy. To optimize the size, weight, handiness of the camera, I chose the compact 20mm pancake lens which suits perfectly my needs.
I could have go for another compact camera, but you know, when you get used to reflex camera, it is quite hard to ‘turn back’. I was thinking about getting a Canon G11, which looks really good – I even had the opportunity to try the G10 my dad owns – but I preferred the potential uses offered by a true lens like the pancake one, and maybe some other I might try in the future ^^;

Currently reading. Already watched and loved the anime, and I wanted to enjoy xxxHOLiC again from another perspective. Definitely one of my top fav series ever. Really like all those stories about Japanese folklore and myths.

Currently reading too. Actually, those are new edition. Former publisher has gone bankrupt before completing the series, and the relased issues were quite limited. A good thing that another publisher took up the torch. Black Lagoon is fantastic. mmh are they going to produce a 3rd anime season btw?

Had some trouble with my graphics card. The fans were making more and more strange noise, so I finally decided to give the whole stuff a check up. Then I discovered that one of fan was actually cracked and rotated way slower ToT
Will have to change this before everything blows up ^^;

Yummy… take the opportunity to clean all this muck.

Another new time-consuming task ^^;; Quite funny to jump everywhere and shoot everything. Environment is a bit always the same and depressing though.
This game is said to be really hard but I’ve now reach chapter 11 and sor far I didn’t face real troubles. Actually, I like the battle system so much that I don’t mind doing extra fights to level up my team – and watching Reanbell-chan in action in different outfits is fascinating ^^;
And yes I dropped FFXIII which I think was really boring and plain.

Read done and waiting for moar. I started School Rumble to know what happened in the missing third anime season. Still not released yet though.
I surprise myself being reading Fairy Tail. Guess I could not resist those beautiful eyes of Lucy and Erza.

Some Japanese I try to learn. More for fun or bedtime reading actually ^^ I mostly use flash cards and real textbooks to practice and learn efficiently. Still, I need to organize my time a better way to spend more time learning the language.

Did I already mentioned I do some role playing games? Here I am preparing the next scenario for a game called KURO – black in Japanese – written by French guys. The plot sets in year 2046, in Tokyo which is facing the biggest economic crisis of its history, plus supernatural phenomenons involving oni and youkai. A mix of high technology and robots with traditional ritual and Shinto beliefs. Love it, and it motivates me to learn a lot about Japanese mythology, legends and folklore. “The perfect role-playing game for me” said some friends of mine ^^; And I often think the main scenario would make an awesome anime.

Oups… some suddently acquired figures I forgot. I really need to get out of their boxes.

    Hmm Resonance of Fate is my next to play game ^^ Almost forgot about it but one of your older posts… i think you were complaining bout FF13 ^^ reminded me about it as well as some ppl on Tsuki ^^ That game sure looks interesting. From what I saw so far, I love character customization and weapon tuning. And that it also transfers into ingame cutscenes etc. Not like FF where weapon change… but on world map etc you have still the same ^^;

    Bout FF13… I am not rly happy bout how this title turned out and rly annoyed by battle system and crafting/upgrading items (PAIN), but you should give it another try. It gets better later on. Unfortunately a bit 2 late… but chapters 11-12 are rly nice. Gran Pulse is rly beautifully done world as well as Oreba village (LOVE bgr song ~ think its called “Dust to Dust”) and Eden capital. Currently in middle of ch. 13. Soon end, wonder how will they close the story ^^

    Yeah FFXIII ending chapters are quite good. Loved the village too and the little side quest inside. Too sad there were not much to do there as it is an important place for two characters… Odd scenario and odd game, really.
    In fact what I dropped is the remaining hunting side quests. I went to the end of the “main corridor” actually ^^;

    I’m so enjoying RoF right now. You’ve gotten a lot further than I have. I need to actually dedicate my time properly rather than always surfing the net. lol!

    20hrs into RoF right now, but only on Chapter5! O_o

    Hearing that FFXIII was dropped is a bit of a letdown… I still haven’t opened my copy, and bought the special edition guidebook too! :(

    Maybe I should throw in the towel on that one before it’s too late and just sell it all on ebay.

    That’s one dirty video card. omg.

    Haha well, I think I have been spending too much time playing RoF since I got it ^^;;; need to be more sensible about that hehe.

    Actually, I think FFXIII is worth playing, as it is really beautiful and the way you go through each character’s story is rather good. It is just that I would have prefer it to be more tricky, with more content (there are things that deserve being developped), and more… more ^^;
    What I’ve just dropped is the hunting side quest, but mostly because RoF arrived. I should go back to FFXIII when I would be done with gunfights… but not sure it is going to be soon ^^;
    And I also get a copy of that special guidebook edition hehe ^^;

    Really dirty yeah, I know, sorry =_=

    I’m guessing you’re playing RoF with Japanese VA? I actually was intending to do that as well, but after hearing some of the English VA, I decided to use the English VA this time. It’s actually VERY well done. You’ll probably think otherwise since you’ve most likely gotten used to the JP VA…

    I’ll definitely play FFXIII. I’ve played every FF in the series so far, so I owe it to myself to keep it going. (I lie, I didn’t play FFXI, but that’s excusable).

    You must watch a lot of dirty things on your computer for the video card to get that dirty! ;)

    Ahhh… yea… I dunno if I want to spend time doing all the missions etc… this is what I dont understand on games like FF… those are in my eyes mainly story based. So deliver epic world, epic story and rly nice characters so game is joy to play. Leave grinding to grinding games and mmorpgs where main motivation is leveling and getting better gear. It feels kinda strange to do quests after main story and boss is KO… also funny when you see that main boss is actually weaker then some creeps in other parts of world lol… >_> Now if those missions were um… side quests that would open pieces of story and minor animations that would be a different story… like this it’s just a trophy hunt~

    Yup started playing with Japanese VA. I am sure the English is good, but I don’t think I would appreaciate the dialogs/jokes at the end of each battle the same way ^^;;;

    Not dirty things but health care material… *kof kof*

    If I am not completley mistaken the “Third Season” of Black Lagoon will be in OVA Format but Its quite some time ago I read about it so I might be wrong.
    So youre going somewhere this summer and need a small camera to keep those memories? Sounds like something big like a flight across the globe ^^

    Turning back on a small one is indeed shokcing.I juist recently got my DSLR and a small camera is soo low tech compared to them

    erf OVA? I wish there were a 13-episode-series ^^; but at least there will be something, so it is great.
    Yeah, planning to go to the other side of the globe hehe ^^
