September is definitely a month dedicated to Lucky Star, with a lot of related goods released, annonced or freebies in magazines. Well, I guess that’s only the beginning and we will have more and more in the future, with for instance a PS2 game due to the end of November. But that’s another story.

Now we are in September, so, let’s just start with the Lucky Star Guide book.

Smaller than a standard visual book, but bigger than the traditionnal manga size, this guide book has not a lot a colored illustrations (about 20 pages, for a total of 140), but full of sketches and some yonkoma extracted from the mangas. Which is quite normal since it is a guide book for the manga, not the anime.

But here some pictures of the colored pages, with at first, the famous “Ra-Ki-Su-Ta” quartet.

And after few more pictures (I am not going to spam all pages), there is a lovely serie showing main characters in various outfits, based on themes like school/work uniforms, cosplay, “what-kind-of-animal-she-would-be”, “when-I-was-younger”, alternative hair style or “completely-opposite-personality”.

Love the number 09 below. Kuroi-sensei is gorgeous. Oh and I needed something to hold the page, and the only thing I had was my Suzumiya Haruhi no Gekishou DVD box ^^;

Yui-nee (number 06, above) was quite pretty when she was younger isn’t she?

A very nice book, and for a low price (a bit less than 1,000 JPY).

Freebies

Magazines come more and more with shitajiki (下敷き), those hard plastic board with great illustrations on it. Don’t really what is it good for, but this term can be litteraly translated into “underlay”. Well, nevermind…

So, Comp H’s vol.5 come with this shitajiki, featuring Konata on a side, and on the other side… well I guess it is Minoru cosplaying. I may be wrong though.

September Comptiq volume offers this shitajiki with both Hiiragi twin sisters on each side. Love the orange one with Tsukasa.

And Animedia issue has all the main characters on its both sides.

Another funny kind of freebie is this fan, generously given with NewType magazine… but a bit late. I would have been more useful one or two months ago.

September Comptiq volume also comes with a set of stickers. The same illustrations than those at page 16 of the guide book, with characters in their animal version.

Have no idea yet about where I can put all those stickers. Any suggestion?

Figures

And then, the ultimate sort of goods is figures. And as every otaku already saw it on GoodSmile Nendoroid website, a bunch of awesome figures have been annonced, due to January. Nendoroid type is IMO the perfect size/format to represent Lucky Star characters into 3D figures.

The only sad thing, which is the worst, is that it’s not one figure, but three with each a unique part. The Lucky Star the official homepage versions will come with “dadada” face for Konata and a “tsuntsun” Kagami face, with special arm configurations.
the Chara-Ani versions will come with “mokyu” face, a SOS-dan bag and corone (that’s for Konata), a smiling face and a box of Pocky with two pairs of new arm configurations (that’s for Kagami).
And finally the Comptiq versions (available via mail order from October’s issue of Comptiq, November’s edition of Comp Ace, or Comp H’s vol. 6) will come with smiling Konata face with cat ears and tails (erf why not a fox?), and “deredere” Kagami face with bunny ears and tails.
That’s sad this last version is kindda hard to get, but in a way, we are talking about Lucky Star, so this is a perfect otaku way to sell those figures. It suits the serie ^^;
